11/2x+2/3=7/2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first thing i would do is rewrite this equation like this \[\frac{ 11 }{ 2x }-\frac{ 7 }{ 2x }=\frac{ -2 }{ 3 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would become 4/2x=-2/3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya reduce further tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first get all the fractions with x onto one side of the equality sign\[\frac{ 11 }{ 2x } - \frac{7}{2x} = -\frac{2}{3}\] now simplify the left hand side of the equation\[\frac{ 11-7 }{ 2x }= -\frac{2}{3}\] which gives us \[\frac{ 4 }{ 2x }= -\frac{2}{3}\]\[\frac{ 2}{ x }= -\frac{2}{3}\]\[\frac{ 1 }{ x }= -\frac{1}{3}\] Cross multiply, and we get \[x= -3\]

Thank you both :)
