Geometry Question! (figure in comments!) 1. Calculate the perimeter of triangle DEF.
First realize that the triangles are similar by SAS test.ok?
okay.
your answer should be 48
How did you get 48?
so their sides are in proportion \[\frac{AB}{DE}=\frac{BC}{EF}=\frac{AC}{DF}\] ok ?
Ok
yea look at 22 and 14
now u know \[\frac{AC}{DF}=\frac{22}{14}\] so \[\frac{BC}{DF}=\frac{22}{14}\] now can u find DF as BC is known ?
sorry its BC/EF
Give me one sec. okay
the difference is 8 if you would subtract 25 by 8 you get 17 times that by 2 equals 34 plus the given side of 14
I got a weird number...
Is it a decimal?
can u keep it in fraction? anyways what is it?
39.28, then I tried it again and got 40.32...
ok,i'll do it. BC=25 so EF=14*25/22=7*25/11=175/11 keep it like this only. Now,EF=DE given so u have all sides of the triangle now. how do u find the perimeter??
one sec
72?
i didn't ask for a value,i asked how do u find perimeter when all sides known.?
do u have options???
you add all the sides up, right? and area is 1/2xbasexheight
exactly. :) so u have all the sides now, just add them up.
im sorry i made a mistake hartnn what about taking 22 and dividing it by 14 this should give you a decimal numeric value then take 25 and divide it by that decimal it should give you proportioned side of EF
list the options if u have it......
45.82 is what i got now
even i am getting 45.82
yay! thank you @hartnn
your welcome :) @Kayell thats correct.
then u get EF as 15.9
well thanks im glad i can help as well i like the collaboration
