A. 2 B. 7 C. 4 D. 12

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

arrow marks on lines indicate lines are parallel

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

if two lines are parallel , then alternate interior angles are equal, right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By the property of alternate interior angles, 14x-32 = 9x + 3 Now just equate them and solve the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm just confused with combining like terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation would be 14x-32+9x+3= 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Bring all terms that have x to one side, and all the non-x terms to other :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No no, all x terms should be on one side of the = All non-x terms should be on the other side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it'd be 14x-9x= 32+3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where do I go from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Subtract the 14-9 = 5x and equate it to 32+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x+ 35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then divide both sides by 5 correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It should be 5x = 35 x = 35/5 = ?

OpenStudy (phi):

Fall means 14x-9x = 5x (the x's don't mysteriously disappear) think like this: you have 14 x's and take away 9 x's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah sorry for that typo.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 :)

That's your answer :)
