A water fountain jet shoots short spurts of water over a walkway. The water spurts reach a maximum height, then come down into a pond of water on the other side of the walkway. The height above the jet, h, of a spurt of water t seconds after leaving the jet can be found by the function h(t)=-16t^2+36t. find the time it takes for the spurt of water to return to the jet's height; tthat is, when h(t)=0.. The supurt of water returns ____ seconds after tthe shot.. (type a integer or decimal number)
g
\[-16t^{2} +36t = 0\] Factor out a "4t" \[4t(-4t + 9) = 0\] \[4t = 0 --> t=0\] \[-4t+9=0 --> t = \frac{9}{4}\]
so what's the answer
?
well i set h(t)=0 to see when the water its the ground then i solved for t (time) what are they asking you to solve for? answer is right there in front of you?
There asking me to find the spurt of water returns ___ seconds after the shot.
i typed 9/4 in as the answer and it said it was wrong?
no 9/4 is correct, if you plug it in to the equation you get a height of 0 just cause the computer says it wrong doesn't always mean its incorrect most likely, the "correct" answer is not simplified or in the form that they want
so how could i simplify that fraction?
could it be 2.25?
hmm you can change it to a mixed number or a decimal yes 9/4 = 2.25
that worked... YOU ARE GREAT!!!!
i believe the instructions say to write answer as an integer or decimal :)
I'm going to post another one will u help me?
sure...but check your answer first , just cause someone posts an answer, don;t blindly submit it
