What is octant number?

sam (.sam.):

octet number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't really know. I think yes :)

sam (.sam.):

The octet rule is a chemical rule that states atoms of low (<20) atomic number tend to combine in such a way that they each have eight electrons in their valence shells, giving them the same electronic configuration as a noble gases. Metals tend to lose electrons to achieve octet rule, say, magnesium has an electron configuration of 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2, magnesium loses 2 electrons from 3s2 turning into 1s2 2s2 2p6 which the second shell has 8 valence electrons and achieved octet rule. Electrons and shells (Magnesium) 2.8.2 turns into 2.8
