In what way did Roman culture influence the habits of the Byzantine emperor during the Byzantine period? Byzantine emperors gave more of their political power to their generals. Byzantine emperors gave themselves more of an appearance of splendor. Byzantine emperors gave more charitable support to the lower class. Byzantine emperors gave the senate more say in imperial decisions.

The second choice makes the most sense to me, that the Byzantine emperor's gave themselves more of an appearance of splendor. The construction of vast monuments to honor them and the empire was a habit that many of them indulged in. The reasons why is that they didn't give any political power to their generals since they were also concerned about popular leaders usurping their power - much like what happened in the Roman empire of old. It didn't keep ambitious generals from proclaiming themselves emperor on occasion in Byzantine history, though. The Byzantine emperors were also not particularly concerned with charity, only in the appearance of it, to the lower classes for the most part. They certainly weren't above sending in an army to enforce their decisions and slaughter anyone that didn't agree with them. And the senate in the Byzantine empire was only a rubber stamp to the emperor's decisions with little real power.
