. The molecule having smallest bond angle is : (1) NCl3 (2) AsCl3 (3) SbCl3 (4) PCl3

@ghazi

OpenStudy (ghazi):

the one in which bond pair lone pair repulsion is largest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it means..which have more no of lone pairs

OpenStudy (ghazi):

see all are from group 15 and all have equal number of lone pair so one more hint now size matters:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So..the one which have less size...

OpenStudy (ghazi):

yes so i guess it will be N and remember there is an exception As has smaller size as it was expected

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the answer is SbCl3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Antimony which have large size

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Electro -ve matter here

OpenStudy (ghazi):

see if it has largest size it it will repel the most (lone pair to bond pair) so bond pair and bond pair will contract more makin smaller bond angles .....secondly in case of nitrogen due to smaller size effect of lone pair will make a lesser impact...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Back - Bonding..

OpenStudy (ghazi):

no electronegativity matters only when polarity or hydrogen bonding is concerned

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There u have a point.....thxxxxx

OpenStudy (ghazi):

:) i am just making series of mistakes don't know why am i knocked up lol
