OpenStudy (aripotta):

lol i was about to post the same website

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Well expand on this: 1) Historians don't really have fresh evidence, they have to dig up the archives 2) Those archives can be biased, incomplete, etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u guys so much!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bahrom do u have examples? (and thanks alot for helping)

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

hmm examples. Well most of historians that are alive today definitely weren't there 200 years ago - "Although Deane’s death had been ruled as a suicide for 200 years", so I'm assuming that he's been dead for over 200 years.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

So none of them can interview witnesses etc, all they can look at are the primary sources, which are things the eyewitnesses said or wrote about the incident. And those things are going to be interpreted in different ways; some primary sources might be biased, the historians can't check who left a biased source and who left a regular account of things that happened.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

They also might be incomplete, several pages with important info might be missing, etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanksss so much.! god bless u! ur the best! do u kno anything else i could include in the 2 paragraphs

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

hmm... let me think a little

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea np :) :)

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

well you could use this quote: "Although Deane’s death had been ruled as a suicide for 200 years, new interpretation of primary source documents point towards a different cause of death for Silas Deane" (benjamin1776.edublogs.org). to support that documents are not always interpreted correctly. Just make sure to cite the website.

my teacher wants the examples and quotes to be out of the book not website, and i dont have the book. (becuz im currently a little poor lol) do u have any other examples i could use instead of that? i just need help writing the 2 paragraphs and putting them into a good format?? (sorry to bother u its just im really stressed out with alot of work...i have like 3 essays and 3 exams due tomorrow)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but u helped alot and i realllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy appreciate it!

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

hmm let me try to find the book.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :) god bless u!

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Sorry I really can't find anything else, maybe contact your teacher, explain to her that you couldn't get the book, but found the first chapter and the summary of the prologue.
