Solve the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2\sqrt{x}+8-8=-2-8\] \[2\sqrt{x}=-10\] now what wold you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did that... and then i found the square root x and got 2x= -10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no you have to do something with the 2? so what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2\sqrt{x}=-10\] so since I'm multipling by 2 the I need to divide by 2 to move it to the other side \[\sqrt{x}=-10/2\] \[\sqrt{x}=-5\] then square both sides \[\left( \sqrt{x} \right)^{2}=\left( -5 \right)^{2}\] \[x=25\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did this help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this helped so much!!! thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but wouldn't it be -25?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no because negative times negative is postive
