How did Arthur Miller make the connection between Salem and McCarthyism? a:Both communities allowed bad things happen to good, innocent people. b:Both communities allowed hysteria to be spread without proof of wrongdoing. c:Arthur Miller, an innocent man, was accused and questioned before the House Committee—much like John Proctor. d: Salem and McCarthyism both happened in America.
This is either going to be A or B for the simple fact that c arthur miller techincally wasnt an innocent man and D its dumb to ask that..... so i dont wanna give u a wrong answer
so enie menie mine mo?
i would go with A but thats me lol
I don't think A, simply because in history exams, they don't use words like "good" people. They tend to avoid picking sides. My guess would be B but then again I haven't studied this. Also I found this: The 1952 Arthur Miller play The Crucible used the Salem witch trials as a metaphor for McCarthyism, suggesting that the process of McCarthyism-style persecution can occur at any time or place. The play focused on the fact that once accused, a person had little chance of exoneration, given the irrational and circular reasoning of both the courts and the public. Miller later wrote: "The more I read into the Salem panic, the more it touched off corresponding images of common experiences in the fifties."[83]
