4x + 6 < –6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6 both sides then divide by 4 both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im still confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think of the < symbol as an =, 4x+6=-6 then you just do it normally, and then substitute the < symbol back in, if you divide by a negative number don't forget to flip the symbol around.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer is ......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x+6=-6, subtract the 6 to isolate the 4x. 4x=-12, divide by 4 to isolate x by itself. x=-3, so you would substitute the < back in x<-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhhhh, ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so Answer is X=-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unless they want the answer with x<-3 otherwise both correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem
