OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hiya, i am kind of new at this thing, when do we start learning and getting full access to the course material

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The course material is already on line (check: http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-fall-2008/ for more details) You can download most of the readings for free (just type into google). And the lectures'videos are both for online and offline viewing ( http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-fall-2008/video-lectures/).

Thanks, do we need to start downloading python now, and is the video lecture, live streaming?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Yep, you should download Python (<3.x), 2. The video lectures are both in streaming (see the link on my precedent post) and downloading (see here: http://archive.org/details/MIT6.00F08/)

Thanks for this information. I didn't realize it was already posted either

Thanks, Renate!

For those that do not know of are confused. http://ocw.mit.edu has a 2008 and 2011 version of the MIT 6.00. The full course is there and has all the lectures, assignments and tests. It also has solutions and you do not get graded and do not recieve a certificate. It is juat a great source of additional practice and learning. http://www.edx.org however is the currently running version of the course with similar material and is released as the course progresses. Through here, you have due dates, you are graded and you get a certicate if you pass. This is an honor certificate and is not equivalent to university credit. For either option you can download the newest 2.x.x version of python as long as it is not 3.x.x Hope this clears up any confusion some may have.

Thank you to everyone that replied. I am also new and am trying real hard to get a grasp of open courseware and how to navigate through the same as I would in any other learning environment. Assignments, due dates and an actual grading system is hard to believe without paying an arm an leg for.
