OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

If a suspended object A is attracted to a charged object B, can we conclude that A is charged?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

A is charged right? since only unlike charges can attract?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, you can't.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

so...im right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rub a balloon on the cat. cat and balloon become charged. but the balloon still sticks to your neutral head.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

so there is still attraction in neutral?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no. two neutral (uncharged ) objects won't be attracted... charged objects have a field, and that field causes either charge separation or polarization in neutral objects, effectively given them a temporary (induced) charge.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

ahh that makes sense
