solve the inequality 3(j+41)≤35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that a j?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyway distribute

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill show

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3(j+41)< or equal to 35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3i+123 <- 35 -123 3i <- -88 divide i > or equal to -88/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you draw the problem the way you see it cuz ur confusing me \\

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you do 3 times j which is 3j ok then you do 3 times 4 which is 12 ok then you want to take 12and subtract it from 35 so it looks like this 35-12 wich is 23 then you take 3j and divide it by 23 so it looks like this 23/3j whish is 7.7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was 41 not 4 :) can you redo it so i check my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you do 3 times j which is 3j ok then you do 3 times 41 which is ok then you want to take 123 and subtract it from 35 so it looks like this 35-123 wich is -88 then you take 3j and divide it by -88 so it looks like this -88/3j whish is -29.3 then u switch the sign around so it point to the left not the right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why do i switch the sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because ur dividing by a negative number
