what should a proof always start with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It should always begin with the if statement and end with the then statement. I find that with most proofs we already know the outcome so try and work backwards. The ending should be something like this, If n=1 is an odd number for the equation n^2+n+41 is true for all n, then it is also odd for (n+1). In the middle of the proof is the mathematical work.
