OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
perpendicular means the slope is negative inverse.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes i know
OpenStudy (nubeer):
wwhen u multiply the gradient of both equations it should be -1
tell me whatis the gradient of equation 1?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so if you know, then all you need to do is find k so that the slope of the line 6x + ky = 6 has the slope you want....
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what is the slope you need?

Solving both equations for y to put them into y=mx+b form might help make it easier to see.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i need an equation with the slope of 3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
suggest you figure out k using @CliffSedge suggestion....
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think that k=2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
now check your answer... if you replace 2 with k, do you have a slope of 3 for that line?

I have a slope of negative three...which I think id what I meant in the first place...considering the perpendicular slope to (1/3) is -3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes... you're correct.... :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
nice work...
