"im not so great with this stuff" implies that I'm not sure what to do.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):
lengths are always measured to be positive

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):
but effort you can do

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):
the first segment implies that x is positive
13 years ago
OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):
the second segment implies x is not greater than 11

O yeah ok, just make sure none of the factors are less than 0

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
x cant be less than 4 because (3.99999-4) = a negative number, and triangles dont have negative lengths

what is the triangle inequality

OpenStudy (experimentx):
sum of two sides is always greater than the other side.

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):
then howz do
OpenStudy (experimentx):
x+(11-x) > (x-4)
x+(x-4) > (11-x)
(x-4)+11-x > x

Did we not answer this? x must be > 4 because you cant have a triangle of length -anything.
x must be less than 11 for the same reason so -4<x<11

but answer is option d
