OpenStudy (sasogeek):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any chance this is probability related?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is sometimes read as "x given y"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wt grade r u in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like the probability of me getting wet (x) given that I am walking in the rain (y) P(x|y) = 1 in this example

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

i'm trying to understand the concept of proof by induction and the given example states something like this \(\large 5|(n^5-n)\) ... i just want to know what that notation means. and hailey i'm in college :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure, then... my answer doesn't make sense for that example... sorry! I'm interested in the answer though!

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

i know when you're stating truth sets or solution sets, it is usually stated as x|solution with respect to x and read as x such that solution with respect to x. I'm not sure what this is though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sounds reasonable,but I'm afraid I'm no help...

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Yah it means "such that" Although in the example you gave, that might have been umm the divisor thing. Example: 5|15 --> "5 divides 15" or 15=5*c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o.O ohh sorry i dont no this math xD im in 8th gradee

zepdrix (zepdrix):

heh c:

OpenStudy (zarkon):

divides

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

ok thanks :) now that makes sense xD
