What are the different natural events that could alter the diversity index? This question has got me stuck on biology and I'm getting behind... -_- I might have more questions after this but probably not.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

events that alter habitats

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@UnkleRhaukus OK, but what are they? I don't know, I'm dumb as a post...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that they are events that alter habitats. But what events are they???

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

they would have to very large events

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what kind of events?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to know more than one too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is a quantitative measure that reflects how many different types (such as species) there are in a dataset, and simultaneously takes into account how evenly the basic entities (such as individuals) are distributed among those types.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is quantitative measure and that doesn't answer my question i don't think... I want to know what types of NATURAL events that would cause the diversity index to change.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh this one is a lil too hard for me. sorry bloodrain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sowwy >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ok im dumb so i cant answer my own question either... T.T

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your not dumb.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you just need a lil help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im a cat, so im dumb as a post

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

that is no excuse; i once knew a cat that could do origami

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@UnkleRhaukus really? i can do origami to but i am not good at schools...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahaha

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

do you know what a diversity index is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@UnkleRhaukus it is a number which tells how diverse the habitat is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never mind i figured it out... sort of

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

that would be my first guess, if a region has a high number of species it would have a large diversity index and if there is a low number of species there would be low diversity index,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see that this post is pretty old, but for future reference you should try thinking of different natural events period. Like different places have different type of weather, so different habitats are going to have different weather too. Also the same with climate. It's not going to be the same everywhere or year-round.
