Find the image of C under the translation described by the translation rule.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is just like your previous problem... What does the rule mean in plain words?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, it is like a treasure hunt telling you where to find the image of a point... You are standing on C... the treasure is at some other point which can be found by following the translation rule.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now I feel dum :o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok soo....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's not meant to make you feel dumb.. .it's just giving you ways to think about what a translation rule is really doing. Once you "get it', no matter what silly way you arrived at your understanding, then the math makes sense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so please walk me through it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's stand on C, ok? :) The first part of the rule says "take your current x position, and make your NEW x position equal to 11 + your current position... x-->x+11" So let's walk over to the right until we get to 11 spaces more than our current x position... but ONLY walk to the right for now, along the x direction... no diagonals or shortcuts. If you started at C, what is your new x position after moving 11 spaces to the right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its point D right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is... nicely done :)

don't give up or let yourself get too confused... you know this better than you think.
