Find the derivative using the four rules (constant, power, constant multiple, and product rules) f(x)=(x^3-4x^2+3)/x None of the rules tell me what to do when there's a fraction so lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you trying to find partial derivatives

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No @ipm1988

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know quotient rule

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No just the rules I've listed. @ipm1988

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok u know that if denominator the is changed into numerator then power of denominator beccome negative then this whole fucntion can be written as (x^3-4x^2+3)x^-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now use the product rule d(uv)/dx= u.(dv/dx)+v.(du/dx) and rest is easy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why do you change the denominator into the numerator? @ipm1988

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u have just started studying calculus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, is that a bad thing? @ipm1988

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you familiar with four basic rule of calculus the addition rule product rule quotient rule difference rule and constant rule

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know the product & constant rule.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need some more rules just a minute let me give them to you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait is the sum rule and the product rule the same thing? @ipm1988

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see the attachments

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The product & quotient rule don't make sense to me. Can you explain please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see the example which I have given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the difference clear now do ntot worry it is easy not tough
