Solve 4^x-2+1=5

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

is that your question? don't you mistype something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it's right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm confused if you are suppose to move the 1 to the other side of the equal sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to answer this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well first you want to get the term with x alone on one side: 4^x-2+1=5 4^x=6 then you take to log of both sides log(4^x)=log(6) by the rule of logs xlog(4)=log(6) x=log(6)/log(4) x=1.292

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer should be 3. its 4 to the power of x-2 +1 =5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i thought that since there weren't parentheses that the equation was 4^(x) -2+1=5. sorry about that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no worries it's kind of confussing. do you know how to answer this
