I need help on limits and continuity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1st problem: Approximate the \[\lim_{x \rightarrow -6^{^{-}}} \frac{ x }{ x+6 }\] by evaluating \[f(x)= \frac{ x }{ x+6 } \] at appropriate values of x.

You're trying to approximate the limit as x approaches -6 from the left. So use x=-6.0001 or something like that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that makes sense

If you have a high precision calculator, you can even use something closer, like x=-6.000000001
