I need to convert the polynomial 8x + 5x^3 – 5 to standard form but I forgot how. Does someone wanna help me out?

Parth (parthkohli):

Big powers come first Small powers go last

hartnn (hartnn):

standard form has powers(exponents) from highest to lowest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so 5x^3 comes first?

hartnn (hartnn):

yes

Parth (parthkohli):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright then 8x comes next?

hartnn (hartnn):

yes!

Parth (parthkohli):

Yeah

Parth (parthkohli):

Also remember that \(\rm -5 = -5x^0\) so don't confuse \(-5\) and \(\rm 8x\) to have equal powers!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then 5? so something 5x^3 + 8x -5?

Parth (parthkohli):

Perfect!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you for your help

Parth (parthkohli):

You're welcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

much appreciated

Parth (parthkohli):

^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now I can finish my algebra

Parth (parthkohli):

Yay!
