PLEASE HELP ME :)

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

Imagine you are attending a “Recipe for America” convention. People from around the country will share how different groups have shaped American culture. They will focus on the contributions of Native Americans, African Americans, women, and children. The convention’s leader asks you to choose a color and phrase for a wristband. Each person at the convention will receive a wristband. The wristband will remind them about what they learn at the convention. The phrase you write should describe an important “ingredient” in American colonial culture. Example—“Corn Bread: Food for the American Soul” on a yellow wristband because corn is yellow Choose an important contribution to American colonial culture. Choose a contribution of the Native Americans, African Americans, women, or children. Choose a color for your wristband. The color should relate to the ingredient. Write a phrase to go around the wristband. Your phrase should describe the ingredient and its origins. You may describe your wristband in words or create an image of the wristband. Write a paragraph of three to five complete sentences. In the paragraph, explain the history behind the phrase and color you chose. Also, explain why you chose this contribution for your wristband.

Well I would say that you should make it rainbow because all of those groups of people have contributed to american society. However, it wants you to list a specific contribution so I would use Native American agriculture. Farming the United States was very different compared to traditional European farming. Without the Native Americans providing their methods, America would have had a much harder time growing food for themselves and their livestock. I would use the color green because that seems like a natural color related to agriculture. My phrase would be something like "Indian Agriculture: The source of American Survival" or something like that. I'm not too creative so I'll let you play with that. But that is how I would do it. I still think the teacher should let you use rainbow since all the "colors" mixed together to form American. No single group had a larger impact than the other.

In response the agricultural techniques the Native Americans gave to the newcomers, Americans were able to adjust to the new farming requirements. European agriculture was very different and the newcomers had a very hard time adjusting. Native Americans gave the new comers the knowledge and tools they needed to survive. In light of this, I would create a green wristband to symbolize the natural gift Native Americans gave to the new comers. Without this gift, American would not have been created. On the wristband I would have one simple phrase: "Native AmericanAgriculture: The source of American Survival."

what would be the food???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It has to be a food?

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

yea ;/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where does it say it has to be a food?

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

Imagine you are attending a “Recipe for America”

OK well use Ruth Wakefield and women with the invention of the chocolate chip cookie. A brown wristband. I dont know a slogan for it though. Sorry, that is all I got.

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

do you have something else....???? that you can give me a phrase for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really. I'm not an expert on the History of food. I would personally use corn or maize but the example already listed that. The chocolate chip cookie is a very popular snack in America and it was created by pure creativity and resourcefulness. That is why I chose it. I don't know exactly how it has shaped america other than making us fat. "Chocolate chip cookies: Culprit to America's thunder-thighs."

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

what would be the 3 to 5 sentence paragraph be ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't really make one since I don't have the phrase. I chose brown because that is the color of chocolate and the cookie (different shades). The invention was an accident and Ruth Wakefield was a woman who made it.

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

Culprit to America's thunder-thighs." isnt that the saying?? ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey caolco when u get the chance can u help me with my redo thanks

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

@Caolco whats the paragraph

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

whats the history behind the phrase???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wasn't being serious. I guess you could use that, but I highly doubt chocolate chip cookies are really the culprit behind america's obesity problem. I would assume mcdonalds and other processed food factories are. Nevertheless, I guess you could use "Chocolate Chip Cookies: American Ingenuity." The chocolate chip cookie was accidentally created by Ruth Wakefield when she used chocolate chunks as a replacement for baker's chocolate. Instead of the chocolate melting and absorbing into the dough, an entirely new product had formed. The chocolate chip cookie has become an iconic American food and symbolizes the incredible outcomes of accidental inventions.
