what is the degree of the following monomial? -2f^2g^3h^5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are looking for the highest exponent, not always the first one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops, thhat is if you only have one. With multiple exponents you need to add them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[-2f ^{2}g ^{3}3h ^{5}\] = 2+3+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add exponents Of All Variables as 2+3+5 and ans is 10.which is highest degree. but if u have equation like x^2+y^3+z^5 then the highest degree is that exponent which is greater than all exponents in equation which is 5 so the degree of this equation is 5.
