A stock broker receives a commission of 10% for selling stocks to her clients. If she sells $50,000 in stocks, how much commission would she earn? A. $50 B. $500 C. $5000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50,000/ 10%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just use the same method as you did in your last question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So start by finding 1%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50,000/100*10%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50 is not correct but "50,000/100*10%" is the right method.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it X by something else

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, basically by dividing 50,000 by 100 you find out what 1% is, so to find 10% you just multiply that by 10 So \[50000\div100=500\]will tell you what 1% of 50000 is. Now you need to multiply the value of 1% by 10 to find the value of 10% \[500\times10=5000\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i was right n the beginning 5000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I just wanted to explain that the method is always the same for this type of maths problem.
