OpenStudy (anonymous):

when adding or subtracting a fraction, denominators should be the same in this case it is 2 but if one was 1 and the other was 2 you would need to multiply ithe numerator and denominator by 2 to get a common denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, it is correct i was explaining if you had a different denominator; my bad i just made you more confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 5x-2 }{ 2 } + \frac{ 4x-1 }{ 2 } = \frac{ (5x-2)+(4x-1) }{ 2 } =\frac{ 9x-3 }{ 2 }\]
