Nancy cuts a piece of cardboard in the shape of a triangle. What could be the lengths of the three sides of the triangle? 1cm, 4cm, 5cm 3cm, 4cm, 8cm 3cm, 4cm, 5 cm 4cm, 5cm, 11cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the Second one is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the sum of any two sides must be greater than or equal to the third side...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually, for this, it must be greater than the 3rd side!! sorry!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it was equal, it would just be a straight line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not the first answer, in other words

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see what you are saying, it's the third one... Greater

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, that's it... the third one. :) Sorry for the momentary confusion!! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you just compare 2 of the sides to the third... so the last fails because 4 + 5 = 9, and 9 is less than 11.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, I do remember that now that you mention it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great :) glad to help :)
