5z > –45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try dividing both sides by five

OpenStudy (anonymous):

z>-9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right

OpenStudy (darkprince14):

that won't do..it's inequality we're talking about..

OpenStudy (darkprince14):

transfer the -45 to the other side.. 5z + 45 > 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@darkprince14 I don't understand your point. The purpose of this problem is to establish which values of z satisfy the inequality. It's like solving an equation for a variable, except that our solution may include a significant range of values rather than a set a finite number

OpenStudy (darkprince14):

get it's domain... it should be z> -9 then its domain would be z = ( -9, +infinity)

OpenStudy (darkprince14):

@L.T. so try substituting -9 to z.. It will be like this... 5(-9) > -45 -45 > -45 That won't do bcause -45 can't be grater than -45...

OpenStudy (darkprince14):

we're only finding points that may satisfy the inequality... it's a huge range though...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The symbol shows that z is greater than 9: nine isn't included!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@darkprince14

OpenStudy (darkprince14):

yeah..that's why i made it an open interval... sorry didn't see your point earlier...sorry for being so childish...

OpenStudy (darkprince14):

@L.T.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's fine
