((5x+5)/(x^2-3x-4))/((1)/(x^2-9x+20)) how do you simplify this?????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first step i would take is factoring all of the equations and then maybe taking the first set multiplied times the reciprocal of the second set would be my guess looking at it just to start at least

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so i multiplied by the reciprocal and got (x^2-45x+100)/(x^2-3x-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 5(x+1 }{ (x-4)(x+1) }* \frac{ (x-5)(x-4) }{ 1 }\] is what i was referring to ^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see what i did?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I think so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok all I did was take each section and make it as simple as possible then knowing that it was a simplification problem I knew when i finished lots of terms are going to cancel you see the ones that are going to cancel out now right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would come out to 5x-25?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright so one question, I'm just being stupid but how did you factor it all out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright nevermind i figured it out! thanks for the help!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol no problem
