According to the Transitive Property of Equality, if TX = XY and XY = YZ, then TX = ___ . The options are: TX; XY; YZ; TZ Would the answer be XY? Im really confused...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Transitive can be thought of as a "transition" from one thing, through a middle thing, to a third thing. the first equation is TX = XY so TX is that first "thing" and XY is the 2nd "thing" the 2nd equation is XY = YZ "XY" is now related to the 3rd "thing", YZ So TRANSITIVE SAYS: If the first thing is equal to the 2nd thing, and the 2nd thing is equal the 3rd thing, then the 1st thing is also equal to the 3rd thing... "transitioning" by way of the 2nd thing. In other words, if TX = XY and XY = YZ then TX = YZ
