quantum model of atom why potential energy of 4s is lower than 3d ?

Isn't this chemistry? I think it is because according to schrodinger's atomic model, the 4s comes before 3d
energy of an orbital is given by n+L rule where n is principal quantum no. and L is azimuthal quantum no. higher the value of n+l higher is the energy...this is known as Aufbau principle.
thank you, we're just starting quantum model 1) i was thinking as we go up the energy level n=1, 2, 3... potential energy increases 2) within an energy level, for example n=2, potential energy increases as we go up the sublevels, s,p,d,f... . my second statement is incorrect is it ? could u plz explain more
