Is my answer right? Describe the transformations required to obtain the graph of the function f(x) from the graph of the function g(x). f(x) = cos x/2; g(x) = cos x Answer: Horizontal stretch by a factor of 2
no, I don't think this one is a stretch...
hmmm there seems to be a mistake with the wording of the question. Take a look at ur question again
Well that is what I was thinking too, but my book gives me the following options: Horizontal stretch by a factor of 2 Vertical stretch by a factor of 2 Vertical shrink by a factor of 1/2 Horizontal shrink by a factor of 1/2 Originally I chose vertical shrink, but it came back wrong, so I did horizontal shrink, and it also came back wrong. So I don't know at this point.
Woops. Thanks @swissgirl
ohh there we gooo
@Caolco I had to call for help again ;)
hmm its def horizontal cuz its x/2 Ohhh I see there is one 1 cycle in 720 degrees so its a horizontal stretch by a factor of 2
oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh. I completely did not see that. Also, I misread the question :(
There is only a half of one cycle in 360 degrees or another way of saying it is that one cycle takes 720 degrees
Ok so I was correct then?
Horizontal stretch by a factor of 2
the graph get stretched instead of taking 360 degrees to finish one cycle it takes 720 degrees to finish the cycle. It takes double the time
