Could someone explain to me how the chain rule works when taking derivatives of variables?

Do you have any specific problem to solve?

when you have 2 functions that are multiplied together and you are taking the derivative of them you would have to separate them somehow say we have x^2*sinx and we want the derivative of that we need to get each term by itself and take the derivative of each one separately first. say f(x)=x^2 and g(x)=sinx then f'(x)=2x and g'(x)=cosx now we need to use the formula f(x)g'(x)+f'(x)g(x) so its gonna be x^2*cosx+2x*sinx
