Soft question: Assume that you are at high school, and they are teaching you about simple harmonic motion (as suggested by an example given by @Mimi_x3), will you be studying so in the Physics book or the Mathematics book?

Nah... I'm just talking about assumptions right now.
It depends on where you're from, but for Indians you will be studying it in Physics. Because I realise that Mathematics taught there is mainly about Mathematics like Matrices, Algebra, Differential Equations. But for Kinematics it will be in Physics. (This is from what I realised; not sure though) But here you will learn it in Mathematics.
What's a better curriculum?
Well, in my opinion is in Mathematics you should learn about Maths; since those people who don't do Physics (like me) would be disadvantaged in Physics-related stuff like Kinematics, and motion. Since they don't have a Physics background.
Yeah, but wouldn't it be a little harsh to get that in Mathematics? I mean, Mathematics isn't of the application type... it's about how you think.
So, it'd be better to keep the "thinking" aspect (Mathematics) and the "memorizing & thinking" aspect (Physics) alone.
Well, Calculus is all about application; applying it to the Physical World. It depends on your syllabus; but when you can into University you can choose from Pure Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. Whereas, Pure Mathematics is more of the thinking and understanding aspect and proofs. However, I disagree that Physics is about memorising you have to understand.
