Honey is not a fluid since it is so thick that it has a hard time flowing. true or false

OpenStudy (turingtest):

At this stage in your schooling, you are probably only talking about three possible states of matter: Solid, liquid, and gas Do you think that honey is a solid material?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

False. A solid doesn't flow at all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Agree with above answers. Honey is a fluid. Fluid is everything that can flow. They even say glass is fluid, because it 'flow' at warm enough temperature.

A common misconception. Glass it not a fluid, it's an amorphous solid. There is a measureable difference. Put simply, it's that the particles in an amorphous solid are generally at local equilibrium, while the particles in a fluid are not. That is, the net force on most of the atoms, molecules or ions in an amorphous solid acts to restore them to some stable position. In a liquid, that is not true -- a large minority, sometimes a majority, of particles have net forces pushing them to some other position. More than you want to know, to be sure. But keep in mind that the common myth that glass is a fluid is wrong.

Hmm, thanks for metioning @Carl_Pham
