What are some similarities and differences between ancient greece and rome?
polytheism
Roman women were considered citizens. Greece did not.
from about 500 B.C.E. - 400 C.E. We tend to lump ancient Greece and Rome together because the Romans adopted many aspects of Greek culture when they conquered the areas of Europe under Greek control (circa 145 - 30 B.C.E.).
hope that help ;)
What is polytheism?
he belief in or worship of more than one god.
the*
worship of many gods, which isn't really a good difference considering Romans adopted Greek gods but with different names.
Oh ok. Any other similarities/differences? I need to do a venn diagram.
Greek roads go in different directions. Roman roads all lead back to city of Rome. Greece was split into city states and often fought one another and only unified to ward off invaders. Rome was a unified City and later Empire.
Thanks :)
No problem, I had to do the same thing.
So are ancient greece's gods the same as the roman gods, or were they different?
Pretty much. The main difference is that they were named after the planets. However Rome later converted to monotheism, which is worship of one god, when they accepted Christianity as their religion. That happened when Emperor Constantine came to power, because he was a Christian.
Thanks!
Do you possibly have 2 more similarities? Sorry to bug you. :)
Their government was different. Greeks were more Oligarchy and Democracy. Romans were more Republic then into Empire
However both started as being ruled by kings.
I just need one more similarity.
They were both agriculturally based.
Thanks :)
No Problem, good luck
