Will I get hard copy of certificate or soft copy of certificate?? If softcopy then how it will get verified by others??
i would like to know that also!
You will most likely get a hard copy (printed) in the mail. What kind of certificate? And if you get a soft copy in email then you just print it to be verified by others. It will have a vague branding on it to ensure that it's legitimate.
If you are enrolled in the actual lecture stream as a fee-paying student of MIT then I would imagine a hard copy. If you are auditing the course via Open CourseWare, I don't think any kind of certificate applies. Certainly the MIT 6.189 course I joined through the Mechanical MOOC has this to say on its FAQ (at http://mechanicalmooc.org/faq.html): "This MOOC will not offer an MITx certificate."
Later the MOOC faq notes: "Do I get a certificate?" - and answers: "Nope, but both Codecademy offers badges and OpenStudy has SmartScore, so you’ll get recognition of your work there. One of our long-term goals for Mechanical MOOC is to figure out how recognition works in this approach. NOTE: This MOOC will not offer an MITx certificate. "
On the other hand, those who have been doing MIT's sort-of equivalent "edX" course do get a certificate. The course is: 6.00x: Introduction to Computer Science and Programming - and the site is at: https://www.edx.org/courses/MITx/6.00x/2012_Fall/about.
@sdoradus the question was if edx students get a certificate in paper form or soft form not if they get a certificate.....
