What is the graph of the function? f(x) = 2x2 ( I will attach pictures . ) * I think its the 3rd graph , but i'm not sure ?
\[f(x) = 2x^2\] this is the question ?
f(x)=2x *squared*
ok .. why do you think that it is the 3rd graph ?
take for example x =0 .. what is the value of y in the graph and what is the value of y in the equation ?
Isn't squared when you move up on a graph?
no .. we shift graphs upwards by adding a constant i think the equation for the 3rd graph is y = x^2 + 2
Oh , so my 2nd choice was the 4th ?
lets check : in the graph there is a point (2,2) if we plug x = 2 into f(x) we get f(2) = 2 * (2)^2 = 8 (2,8) so no..
Well , It cant be the 2nd graph cause there's no negatives so it has to be the 1st . lol .
what do you mean by "no negatives" ?
look .. what you have to do is to look for points on the graph and see if the points agree with the given equation
try to do it for the first graph please
Graph 2 is in the negative quadratic range? and the question has no negative numbers in it ?
ok , hold on .
tell me what kind of points you choose .. show your work
is (1,2) a right point ?
yes.. it is on the graph now check what f(1) gives you
so it would be 2* (1)^2 ?
yes which is .. 2* (1 * 1) = 2 * 1 = 2
Yes , I see .
So , now what ?
so the point 1,2 satisfies the equation as well! its good
since we could negate all the other graphs with points that the equation does not satisfies this is the correct graph
So , its the 1st one ? I was rite the 3rd time hahaa !
Thank youu soooo much @Coolsector (;
yw.. how are you btw :) ?
