What is the graph of the function? f(x) = 2x2 ( I will attach pictures . ) * I think its the 3rd graph , but i'm not sure ?

no .. we shift graphs upwards by adding a constant i think the equation for the 3rd graph is y = x^2 + 2

lets check : in the graph there is a point (2,2) if we plug x = 2 into f(x) we get f(2) = 2 * (2)^2 = 8 (2,8) so no..

Well , It cant be the 2nd graph cause there's no negatives so it has to be the 1st . lol .

what do you mean by "no negatives" ?

look .. what you have to do is to look for points on the graph and see if the points agree with the given equation

yes.. it is on the graph now check what f(1) gives you

yes which is .. 2* (1 * 1) = 2 * 1 = 2

so the point 1,2 satisfies the equation as well! its good

since we could negate all the other graphs with points that the equation does not satisfies this is the correct graph
