16a^2+56af+49f^2

OpenStudy (raden):

(4a+7f)(4a+7f) or (4a+7f)^2 its called a perfect square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much, i was stuck on that for ever! did you divide all by 4?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

no... he recognised 16a^2 is a perfect square (4a)^2 49f^2 is a perfect square (7f)^2 and the middle term is 2 x 4a x 7f so it meets all the conditions for a perfect square. \[(a + b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it, guess you just need a outsideveiw :)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

yep...
