5(X-3)+2X=41?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you trying to see if that equation equals to 41? or are you trying to find x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think she's trying to solve x..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well x is 8 i think let me check again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well show her how to work it....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ALL IT SAYS TO SOLVE A EQUATION, THEN ITS SAYS CHECK YOUR SOLUTION

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will after i solve it lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH OKA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[5(x-3)+2x=41\] \[5x-15+2x=41\] distributed five to x-3 \[7x-15=41\] add the x together \[7x=56\] add 15 to both sides \[x=8\]divide both sides by 7 to get x by itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well you are right it does equal to 41. do u know how though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@vanhoeak2 how did u get 15 for both sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im going to show u step by step is that ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Miyuru yess i am thank u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didn't get 15 for both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Anelika yes thats fine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did show how to work it... under each equation is what i did to get the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Distribute, then isolate the variable to solve.\[5(X-3)+2X=41 \implies 5X-15+2X=41 \implies 7X=56 \implies X=8\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so what u do first is 5(x-3) you need to times 5 into x wich is 5x then 5 into 3 which is 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but im askin how did u get 15?@vanhoeak2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you times 5 by 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then u add 15 to both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh distribute 5(x-3) to get 5x-15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well oka@vanhoeak2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i think I have bad lag

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u get it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i do thnaks@anelika

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are welcome :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oka... vanhoeak2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no wat do u do next@anelika

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oka......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

message me it will be easier

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oka.. i willl that will be easy
