What did the isolationist sentiment in the united states result in after world war one ? A) high tariffs B) demobilization C) ratification of the treaty of versailles or D) high unemployment
I'd go with (A) high tariffs. After the war and as isolationism took hold in the US, there was a push for "American-only" goods. To support that end, high tariffs were put on foreign goods keeping a lot of them out of the US market -- but it would also raise prices on American goods because by doing so, it would also take away any competition that they had in the States. Without competition, prices began rising. The other choices don't make too much sense which is why I picked (A). It's true that there was some demobilization after WW1, but it wasn't caused by isolationism. The war had ended, so there was no need for as large a military. It was that which led to high unemployment because now you have a lot of former soldiers without any work. And (C) isn't true -- the US didn't sign the Treaty of Versailles because it would have required them to be part of the League of Nations.
