Can someone explain to me the basics of DNA and RNA ? In simple terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's so much to know about DNA and RNA...... basically DNA is the language that dictates who we are and how we will become. It's the blue prints that make you who you are. RNA are these same blue prints, translated into another "dialect". Your body needs these blue prints to manufacturer things for your body the way these instructions tell them to... but the problem is they can't read DNA, they can only read protein. So the body converts DNA to RNA which is called transcription. Then the body converts RNA to protein which is called translation. DNA is in the form of bases, RNA is in the form of bases just a different dialect... little different, and proteins are in amino acids which the body can read and now can use your personal instructions to function the way these blue prints tell them to. It gets a lot more complicated, that's just an overview.
