.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x)) = 2(g(x)) - 8 g(f(x)) = -5(f(x)) - 10 Can you do it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kind of confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x)) is similar to f(x)..the difference is x is replaced by g(x)..So, in the function f(x) = 2x-8, remove x and put g(x)...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x)=2g(x)-8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now g(x) = -5x-10...So, put it there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g(x)=-5(g(x)-10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No... f(g(x)) = 2g(x)-8 = 2(-5x-10) - 8 = -10x-20-8 = -10x-28

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thats the whole answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do similarly in the second part...what do you get g(f(x)) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g(f(x)) 2(fx)-8 ..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, g(x) = -5x-10 g[f(x)] = -5[f(x)] - 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Another example: if h(x) = 3x then, h[f(x)] = 3f(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still confused??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. -10x-28 2. -10x+30
