Are the fuel humans have the same as fuel and petrol for your car?
Fuels put in the human body that is
Well humans and engines use the breaking of chemicals bonds to generate "fuel" or energy. Cars use long saturated hydrocarbon chains, such as Octane and Hexane Humans however use specific types of carbohydrates, lipids and sometimes amino acids for food all of which are made of carbon as well. Engines burn these hydrocarbon chains to generate energy, whereas humans break down carbohydrates, lipids and amino acids in steps (look up glycolysis, krebs cycle and the electron transport chain). Breaking them down in steps allows more useful energy to be extracted from these molecules, less is lost to heat, it also provides many other benefits such as regulation of energy production etc. Humans and engines are different in that we break down our fuel step wise whereas combustion engines just burn them and break their bonds all at once. We are similar that we both use potential energy present in chemicals as fuel
Hope this was helpful if you have any questions please feel free to ask
So the way the fuel is broken down is the same, but the fuel consumed is different.
No, the fuel consumed is consumed in a different way, we are breaking down these molecules step wise, a combustion engine just burns these molecules releasing all of the chemical potential energy at once.
Look at glycolysis and the kreb's cycle it is a step wise process where ATP is created which is the main energy currency of the cell
