-2/5x-9<9/10 -2/5x-9+9<9/10+9 -2/5x<18/10 I know I need to get rid of 2/5 Is this how? (5/2)-2/5x<18/10(5/2) I can't remember exactly how to isolate the x and usually I'm good at this stuff. Thanks.
you have to multiply both sides by (-5/2). dont forget to reverse the inequality because youre multiplying by a negative
(-2/5)-2/5x>18/10(-2/5) x>90/20 or 4.5
your original work is wrong: you wrote -2/5x-9+9<9/10+9 -2/5x<18/10 you were supposed to add 9, but you added 1. you need a common denominator to add fractions. change the 9 to 90/10 and then try again
*on the right side only
Ok, ty, i'm gonna try it again. -2/5x-9<9/10 +9<9/10+90/10 -2/5x<99/10 (-2/5)-2/5x<99/10(-2/5) x>99/10(-2/5) x>-198/-50 or do I find the common denominator and do x>99/10(-20/10) x>-1980/100 x>-19.8 can someone check this and tell me what is the right way to do this?
you multiplied by (-2/5). you either have to multiply by (-5/2) or divide by (-2/5)
ill show how to work out this problem
omg, I must be getting tired. Thank You for all your help. I'm still learning. The fractions confuse me.
(-2/5)x-9<9/10 add 9 to both sides (-2/5)x <9/10+99/10 (-2/5)x<99/10 divide by (-2/5) x>(99/10)/(-2/5) x>-24.75 or -99/4
Ok, I see! Thanks for being patient with me.
no problem, if you need more help just ask!!
Ok :-)
