ok so is anybody on here good with algebra

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

everyone is :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good because im not lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok the promblem is 4(xy-1)-(x-3)=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and im suppose to simplify the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there anything on the other side of the equal sign? or are you supposed to use the distributive law to remove the parentheses?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to simplify, multiply the 4 to both terms in the parenthesis next to it, and multiply the negative sign to the terms in the parenthesis next to it. you end up with 4xy-x-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so first factor in the 4 and the -1 and you get 4xy-4-x+3 combine like terms 4xy-x-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[4(xy-1)-(x-3)=4\times xy-4\times 1-x-3\] is a start

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well in the book there isnt a equal sign i just added that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3x(x^3+2x^2-x) and this one im suppose to multiply and simplify
