Stuck! *sighs* (-2x^2)(x^-5)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you might want to re-write this problem...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(-2x^2)(x^-5)^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(x - 5)^2 = (x - 5)(x - 5)\] so \[(x - 5)(x - 5)\] FOIL that to get what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x^2-10x+25?\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah then we do \[2x^2(x^2 - 10x + 25)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is \[x^4-20x^3+50x^2?\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, but idk if your teacher or whoever wants the simplified version or not lol \[-2x^4-20x^3+50x^2?\] ^^^^^ i think that's what you meant, but you missed the -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol! Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hit that best response if you would :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

May you please help with this one:\[(4/3)^{-6}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so, since it's to the negative sixth power, we take the reciprocal of the number and then the power becomes positive and we put it in the denominator.
