ok am i right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to what question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\left| 3x-2 \right|-3=13\] 13-3=10 3x-2=10 3x+2=+2 3x=12 x=6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no...what do you get when you divide 3 by 12??...not 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not quit there yet. (3x-2)-3=13 (3x-2)=16 3x-2=16 3x=16+2 3x=18 x=18/3 also because it is absolute value you need to 3x-2=-16 3x=-16+2 3x=-14 x=-14/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean 12 by 3...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is it just one awnser or two

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dewsters..when you are doing absolute value, you actually take your constant to other side 1st, like she di. She just did her last step(division) wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got \[\frac{ 18 }{ 3 }\] but inst4ead of leaving like that i divided and got 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

refer to what @dewsters has posted above. There are two solutions and he explains how to get them. They do seem correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mel2166734 no it is an absolute value equation which makes the equation have 2 answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you
